Booked

Thats right!  I just got off the phone with our travel agent and Zack and I are OFFICIALLY going on a cruise!  We are setting sail on June 20th for Cabo San Lucas, Mazitlan and Puerto Vallarta!  I will have my first year of teaching under my belt and Zack will have just finished taking the MCAT!  Sounds like the perfect time to me :)  We can't wait!

When Zacks away....

this girl will play!  I hate that Zack is always gone studying, but the fact that he is such a hard working is also one of my favorite things about him!  Tonight I am up to my usual Monday night activity- watching The Bachelor and online shopping.  While reading my blogs I stumbled across this gem!  I am in LOVE with this necklace and wouldn't mind at all if it showed up for me on Valentines day.  What do you think?  Find more HERE.

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a very fun filled weekend!  Friday we celebrated my birthday!  It started out at Red Robin for dinner with the Phillips.  We had a great time and I can assure you that they also have a delicious 'free birthday dessert' as well!  Here are the four of us at dinner:

After dinner the party moved over to the Wilk where we went bowling!  It was a smaller group, but was great because we could all share a lane!
Here's the gang- Me and Zack, Rob and Anna Paulsen and Ben with his fiancee Natalie (minus Shauna and Roger).  Fortunately for all of our pride, nobody was that great of a bowler, and we all did pretty horrible together.  Rob is the only one who was able to break 100!  Guess we need to form a league and go more often!

One of my favorite parts of bowling is having everyone get a 'bowling name'-it's more fun that way!  Here are some of the names with our scores.  I bowled an 89.

After bowling we headed back to our house and we had a bunch of friends come over.  We had cake and ice cream with your choice of root beer float, creamsicle float or sherbet float.  I am bummed that I didn't take a single picture of all the friends that came over, but we had a great time.

Saturday besides getting the usual errands run, I also helped in throwing a 'Going Away/Birthday party' for my friend and old roommate Kortney.  She has a accepted a position working in HR for Exxon Mobile.  She is moving to Houston, Texas on Thursday and we will miss her!  Her birthday is Feb. 4th so we thought we would get in one last hurrah before she left us for good!

Here is Kort with her adorable cupcake cake (yes, I made it).  She blew those candles out in no time!  Must be all those years of practice!

Me, Kort, Kristen, Janae and Ali!  We all met up at Utah State.

I love you Kort!  Zack and I are going to miss you!  We wish you the best of luck on your new adventures in Texas!  And who knows, maybe in a year, we will be out there to join you!

Party for ME!

Today is my birthday! I am now the big 24!  Now, I know that this is not an old age, but I have never before been an age where I felt like it was actually old....but 24 (for me) seems old.  It is the age where things should be 'established' and fortunately for me, they are!  It has been a great past year and I am excited to see what 24 year old Emily holds!

It was a fun day at school today.  Today was the first day of 2nd semester at school, so I had all new students so they were all very well behaved and quiet.  Gotta enjoy it while it lasts right?

I came home from work to find a 'scavenger hunt' of notes and goodies from Zack :)  My mom also came down to take me out to dinner! We celebrated at Outback Steakhouse and it did not disappoint! I have had so many people give me fun birthday wishes today- thank you for that!  You have helped make this day even more special!  The plan is to have a party this Friday to go bowling with friends and have some cake and ice cream after!  Something to look forward too!  Here are some pictures from today to enjoy!

January Decor

I'm sure that it is silly to wander around worrying about how to decorate your house, but I do that. I'm not sure why seeing how the only people to see our house is usually just Zack and I, but I want it festive all the same. I was pretty puzzled on what to put out for January. I didn't want it to be anything semi-Christmasy either.  I couldn't even find good ideas online!  So, the other day when I was in Salt Lake I wandered into The Wood Connection to see if they had some good Valentines decor already!  Not only did they have some but it was ALL gone.  So I kept on going and found some great ideas!  I bought this kit and picked out my paint colors and voila!  Here it is.  I hope you guys like it as much as I do!

Resolution

This is probably late in coming seeing how it is already the 13th, but here it is nonetheless.  My resolution for the year is to swim two times a week!  I have been going with a friend at the BYU pool.  Here is the report so far:

Last week:  Swam on Wed. and Thurs. and survived and wasn't even sore the next day!
This week:  Swam Tues. night and to our SURPRISE, we found that the intramural inner tube water polo teams taking over the pool!!  We asked the lifeguard about it and this is to go on every T,W,Th and sometiems F!  They start at 7pm and go until the pool closes.  I ask you then, WHY do you call this open swim time???

I still have plans to go tonight. We are trying to BE THERE at 6:50pm hoping that by being early birds we will get a spot in a lane, instead of joining another one that already has 6 people in it!  I must say, it definitely kept my pace!

Even with all this craziness I am determined to not let that get me down!  I'm gonna be the next Dara Torres (ok not really, but I WILL be in shape at least!).
