Today has been a bit of a whirlwind. This afternoon St. Louis University called Zack and offered him a spot in their Fall 2011 class. This was certainly unexpected. We were shocked, floored, surprised, and excited. Of course this happened after we sent in our money to The American University of the Caribbean and put a deposit down on an apartment there and even booked our flights..he even had a scholarship to AUC. Murphy's Law right?! They told Zack that he had until 5pm today to get back to them. He called about an hour later and told them yes! The shock is still setting in. In our minds we were so set and so ready to live in St. Maarten but we are thrilled that this opportunity has come about. Although St. Louis doesn't have perfect weather we are excited to live there. I was born in St. Louis and lived there until I was 5 so I am excited to get the chance to know my birth place a little bit better! Although we won't have a lagoon to wake up to, this view is still pretty great, right?!
Hooray! How exciting. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWow sounds like you guys are having an adventure--and you haven't even left yet!! When its right, its right.
ReplyDeleteEmily, that's so exciting! Holly and Jeff are moving to St Louis next summer. Jeff matched for a hand surgery fellowship there and it will be their last step to being done! A long road, but very worth it.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! CONGRATS!!! That is so exciting. I knew everything would work out just as it should. I cannot believe they only gave him a few hours to decide - talk about stressful. It might not be the adventure you planned on, but it will still be an adventure. Can't wait to see all the updates.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun change in plans! congratulations to zack! can't wait to hear of your adventures!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! We fly into St. Louis every time we visit the in-laws so next time we come I'll call you and maybe we can come say hello! :) So crazy how you think you have things figured out and then it all changes! Keeps life exciting!!
ReplyDeleteCloser is better. That is fun though. Congrats
ReplyDeletewell too bad, but not really - right?! you'll still have a grand adventure, wherever you go. i'm sure you all will enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteand it is beautiful.
Oh good! When Jason was here I was telling him that you guys were going to the Caribbean and he told me to tell you not to do it because he knows of some people who went there and then couldn't get into any Residencies. But I didn't have the heart to tell you... So this is really for the better! Congrats!
ReplyDeletewhat excellent news! you'll get to know a new part of the country and zack can go to a great school. congratulations.
ReplyDeleteSo great! John and I have been wanting to go to St. Louis over a long weekend, it's only (only!) 7 hours from us, but we've heard really good things about it. Congrats...and if we ever make it out there, I'll have to let you know.
