Dream Come True!!!
Before I get to the real reason of this post, I have to give you a back ground story first :)
Like most of the women I know, my mom is the best cook I know. Even when I copy and do everything the same as her recipes, it still isn't quite the same. That being said I always like to use the same things my mom uses. My mom has a really old mixer that she has had forever. It makes the best rolls, cookies, you name it, it was the best. So I always told my mom that when I grew up/got married that I wanted that mixer. My heart broke a bit the day she told me they don't even make it anymore!
Well, years have passed since that moment and I got over it. I figured I'd never have it and I would move on in life with my adorable cute red kitchen aid. But still....while using said kitchen aid I would still day dream about that old mixer. Then the thought came to me! Hello?! Ebay!!!! And so the search began. A few months back I found THE mixer!! I watched it for a few days and when it came down to crunch time I was ready! I even had my computer open, signed in, and on the bidding page for hours before just so I would be ready. I went to put in my final big and guess what?! I LOST :( Leaving me signed in on the same page made it so when I finally had some activity on the page, I had to log back in losing the sale. I was devastated. Losing something makes you realize how much you really really want it.
Well, I would occasionally check here and there thinking I had lost my chance forever when a few months ago THERE IT WAS!!! And cheaper than the other one! This time I was NOT going to lose! I was out of town during the bidding process so I had my wonderful friend Shauna do my bidding for me and she is a good luck charm! I WON!! And I was ecstatic! Finally after waiting for it to ship it has arrived, in all its glory! It needs a good scrub down but I love it all the same. Here it is!

My Mom
This is my cute mom, Marie. We celebrated her birthday this past Sunday and I can only hope that she has 40 more birthdays in her! My mom, like most peoples moms, is very special to me. We are buddies and I love that. I love that I can tease my mom.
I am the youngest in my family and when I was in high school it was usually me and mom at home together. My Dad was at work and all my other siblings were married or in college which means that I got mom all to myself! I loved it! I was her little errand runner and we also got lot of great opportunities to talk that we otherwise might not have.
My mom taught me so many things. I got my love of making, creating and beautifying things from her. She is the one that taught me how to cook and to sew and without her I think I would have a very different job! My mom is the driving force in my life and was always positive and upbeat. She is a calm and happy woman who I think definitely follows the motto 'come what may, and love it'.
I only hope that one day I can as good of a mother as she has been to me and all of my family. I love you Mom!! You're the best!

"So what will you do all summer?"
This was a question I was/am asked quite frequently since I get the summer off (PERK of being a teacher!) and I have no kids to take care of. Well, I can't say that I have plans for everyday this summer but I was quite productive yesterday.
Fortunately for me, Rachel is also a childless teacher with time off and Shauna is a retired accountant because she will be Momma to a little baby boy and day now! So we headed up to The Wood Connection in Salt Lake where we all bought PLENTY of fun decorations to paint and make our own. After that we had lunch at Paradise Bakery- it was delicious as always. Then we decided if these wood letters were ever to be painted rather than just tucked away in a closet until we "got around to it", we better go buy the paint! So off to Michaels we went were I'm pretty sure I bought 30 different paint colors. Guess that means I won't be buying and for a LOOONG time :)
When we got back home, I decided while I was in the 'mood' I would get started. I was surprised myself with all that I got done! What do you think?
This is the 'Home Set' from Wood connection. Its pretty simple...you buy the letters H, M, and E and then the 'O' is a different object for every month. For these months it was the flower for May, ladybug for June, Uncle Sam's hat for July, and the spiral sun for August. I love how they turned out!
This is my new summer display! I love the bright colors. I decided for this month to not use the 'home' sign cause I like this so much more :) I still decided to use the flower and the sun because they match and are fun. The 'U' in summer is supposed to be flip-flops if you can't tell.
See how productive I am when I put my mind to something??? Next up- TACKLE our embarrassing extra bedroom that has become our collection of junk through the year we have lived here. Wish me luck!
