He's applied himself....

to medical school, that is.  The application process is finally complete and Zack couldn't be happier :) Zack has applied to 22 different medical schools (seems like SO many but the av. is 18) scattered throughout the country and we hope that at least one of them will accept us!  It is exciting and a little nerve wracking- but we're ready to go.

For those of you who don't know much about the medical school application process, let me enlighten you.  First are the primary applications, which is what Zack has just finished.  After that almost every school will reply back to you and have you submit a secondary application which is basically asking you to write an essay on a topic the school chooses.  If they like your secondary application, you are invited to the school for the interview. Everything comes down to the interview!  After an interview it could still be 2-3 months before you hear anything- so, here's to months of waiting!  Wish us luck and keeps us in your prayers :) Every bit helps!

Cloud Croft, NM

Zack's family and my family tend to be very similar! So of course, when my family planned a vacation mid-July, so did his!!  So, we flew out a day early from my family's vacation in Palm Desert to make it to Zack's family reunion in Cloud Croft New Mexico.  Never heard of it?  Neither had we :)

Cloud Croft is in the mountains of New Mexico and is nice and cool.  This is a place his grandmother used to travel to when she was younger to escape the hot hot heat of El Paso.  His entire family was there!  We had a fun time roughing it in cabins.

We were bunk mates with Zack's sister Nina.  She is a HUGE Utah fan so we thought it was pretty fun we both sported these shirts one day.  See- - we can still be friends :)
The hilarious part of this camp is that it is owned by the Community of Christ (aka The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).  So all over were were pictures of their gospel and strange sayings and prayers.  We would walk by this pillar on our way to the dining hall and didn't realized until 2 days later that this side, is only one of TWO sides!  We were so happy that the message finally made some sense.  Its pretty funny to only read this half though!
Amongst all the family games of ultimate frisbee, basketball, and get to know you activities, we still found time to play some of our favorite games.  Here is Zack and his sister Alicia playing Lost Cities.
Zack's mothers side of the family is from the colonies in Mexico called Dublan.  That is where his Mom grew up so she is fluent in English and in Spanish. So although his mom is technically not a mexican, she definitely has the heritage.  Here is some of the family singing around the piano their favorite songs in Spanish.
Here is a perfect example of what I meant when I said weird artwork.  Funny.  We loved it!  It was great to be able to meet and finally put faces with names of Zack's family.  We had a great time even though it rained 80% of the time!

Palm Desert

This year for our family vacation my parents took us all to stay at the Marriot resort in Palm Desert, CA.  All of my siblings and their kids were able to come except for Todd.  We had a great time watching movies together, laying by the pool, going to disneyland, and of course eating fabulous meals!

Here we are relaxing out at the pool trying to work on our tans!  We also visited another pool nearby that had water slides and a splash pad for all the nieces and nephews to play on.  We had a blast.
Zack and Molly hanging out watching some Disney movies to get ready for the park the next day.
My mom and Becky preparing a delicious meal for the entire crew!  The food was definitely one of the best parts of this trip.

We had and 'un' birthday party for my nieces Lexie and Shay since they live out of state and we won't be able to be there on their real special day.  All the kids had a great time!  We also said we were singing and celebrating Zack since he got his MCAT scores back that day and did AWESOME!!  I am so proud of him :)  He got the exact score he wanted and is feeling much better about applying to med schools now.  Way to go babe!!!
The next morning we left EARLY to drive to Disneyland!  We had a great time and it was fun to go with little kids and see their excitement of all the characters and the rides.  Here we are with good old Pooh Bear :)
What trip to Disneyland can be complete without a churro?!
I wasn't able to go on all the rides I normally would have since I'm pregnant but we still had an awesome time!  I'm glad my siblings were there so Zack could at least go on those rides I couldn't, with them.  Here we are with our goggles for Toy Story Mania!  Awesome ride and lots of fun!
And of course, before we left the park we had to stop by the Gibson Girl ice cream parlor for a treat!  We woke up around 5:30am and didn't leave the park until 10:30 so we were exhausted!

I think it is safe to say a good time was had by all!  Thanks Mom and Dad :)

Jack or Jill?

I had my Dr. appointment last Friday and everything with baby Pugh is checking out great!  I am losing weight but nothing that they are concerned about at this point, so I feel great about that :)  It is strange to be losing weight and yet getting bigger at the same time!  Tomorrow marks my 16th week (woah, 4 months already?!) which meant I finally got to make an appointment for THE ultrasound!  The big day will be Friday, August 13th- - I hope that being Friday the 13th won't mean anything bad ;)

So, the poll is up on my blog (over on the right side..so go click away) and I expect ALL of you to put in your vote!  There were 24 of you to congratulate me on my pregnancy so now you all have to put your thoughts in!

I've been feeling very well for most of the time. I got sick a couple of times in my 11th and 12th week and especially on the cruise, but since we have been home I have been doing so much better!  If you want our thoughts we think it is a girl, but what do we know!?  Zack also has dreams that it is an Asian girl!  Ha ha, it might be a girl but I can GUARANTEE that this baby won't be Asian :)

Oh, and although the names Jack and Jill are adorable, no, those aren't any of the names we are considering.

bombs bursting in air

I thought that having the 4th of July fall on a Sunday was going to be a bad thing.  But, turns out that it meant that the 4th of July got to be stretched out over 3 days instead of just one!  It was great!  We celebrated by having a great bbq with the Pugh's and some fireworks!  On Sunday we had a fabulous dinner that my sister prepared (thanks Nicole!) and just relaxed and enjoyed some family time.  Monday my sister Natalie invited us up to watch her husbands baseball game and watch the fireworks put on by Layton city.  They did NOT disappoint!  We decided we couldn't have had a more 'American' 4th of July!  Baseball, burgers, fireworks, all made possible by driving my Ford car :)
Here we are at Layton's Burger Stop getting some delicious grub!
We got to play with these crazy kids all night!
And watched a TON of these!  Zack laughs at me because there is nothing I love more than fireworks.   I guess I am like a 7 year old when it comes to them.  I have to watch them and I just stare up and smile the whole time with lots of ooohs and ahhhs.  They were great!  Thanks again for inviting us Nat!

The Cruise

I figured it is high time I got around to posting about our cruise!  We had a blast!  We set sail on the Carnival Splendor for 7 days.  It took us to the beautiful lands of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.  We had a great time relaxing in the sun and exploring all of the ports!  We loved all the shows on the ship but I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I weren't sick half the time thanks to the rocking boat and my pregnancy! We still had a great time :)

Here are the two of us at Formal night on the ship.  There were two of them but because of the baby in my belly, we decided to skip the second formal night and I had room service bring me a sprite and some pretzels.  Just as yummy I'm sure ;)
One day we decided to take advantage of the disco lessons on board!  It was pretty fun!  Zack and Rob were the only boys at the lesson so the instructor made them perform solo!  They did great.
Our first stop was in Puerto Vallarta!  It was a lot of fun.  For the shore excursion we decided to do the zip-line through the forest!  I sat it out since my Dr. told me it was a "no-no" but everyone else went and had an awesome time.  We took the cruise with our friends Anna and Rob that are in our ward here in Provo.  It was fun to have them with us.
All geared up and ready to go!  Look how cool they look with their helmets and bandanas!
Go Zack go!
Here we are in downtown Puerto Vallarta.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.
We walked along the beach for a long time and saw some amazing sand art!  Here is some of it!
In Mazatlan we went to a resort called El Cid that gave us unlimited food and drinks for the day as well as all access to everything on their resort.  We went kayaking and spent a lot of time in the pool bar with our virgin daquiris :)  We didn't take any pictures that day, but I can say that it was my favorite of the trip!
In Cabo we took a boat ride around some of the cliffs and rock formations and then went snorkeling!  We saw some beautiful fish and enjoyed the water and the nice beaches!  We had a great time and would recommend this trip to anyone!  We had a blast!  I even came back with a tan if you can believe it :)
